Evasive Driving Course - 3 day
This course is designed to teach students the necessary proactive protection skills to confidently and properly maneuver a vehicle during a variety of possible in-transit emergency situations and on various types of terrain.
Course Description:
This 3-Day Evasive driving course gives our highly experienced instructors the opportunity to use their wealth of knowledge in vehicle manipulation and operation to provide students with the necessary tools and capabilities to successfully navigate and evade during an in-transit emergency situation. Students will learn to remain calm, maintain vehicle control, and appropriately maneuver their vehicle by using a variety of proven and effective tools and techniques.
Throughout this 3-Day course, students can expect to split their time between classroom instruction and hands-on practice in the vehicle. During the hands-on portion of the course, students are literally put “in the driver’s seat” and given the opportunity to put into practice the theories techniques that they have learned in the classroom.
Some of the tools and techniques that students can expect to learn and demonstrate include:
- Vehicle Dynamics I and II
- Brake and Throttle Manipulation / ABS System Review
- Skid Control
- Swerve to Avoid Maneuvers
- Blocked Lane Drills
- Y-Turns & J-Turns
- Distance Backing / Advanced Backing Techniques
- Technical and Street Line Driving
- Night Driving Scenarios
- Close Proximity Driving
- High Center of Gravity Vehicle Manipulation
- Additional Realistic Situational Exercises
In addition, to give students a more well-rounded and real-world scenario experience, Day 3 of this 3-Day course is completed primarily on our off-road and unimproved roads. This combination of classroom learning and hands-on exercises on a variety of terrain surfaces gives each student the ability to experience a multitude of possible situations and scenarios.
A final exercise will be completed at the end of the course to give students the opportunity to practice all that they have learned over the course of the class.
Some of the tools and techniques students can expect to learn and then demonstrate during the off-road portion of this class are:
- Maximizing Control on Unimproved Roads
- Maximizing Maneuverability on Off-Road Terrain
- Total Vehicle Control
- Obstacle Avoidance (holes, ditches, tree stumps, large rocks or boulders, etc.)
- Extreme Ascent/Descent
- Maneuverability over Extreme Elevation Shifts
- Brake/Throttle Management
- Vehicle Recovery Methods
- Vehicle Recovery Tools Instruction
A final exercise will be completed at the end of the course to give students the opportunity to practice all that they have learned over the course of the class.
