for Experienced Drivers
Whether your driving record is spotless, or you’ve already been involved in an accident, our Accident Avoidance for Experienced Drivers course is for you. Designed for drivers with at least 2 years of driving experience, this course focuses on giving students the tools to break bad driving habits that are often contributing factors resulting in accidents, and to help drivers to react appropriately under emergency conditions, including those rare circumstances where an accident is unavoidable.
Course Description:
Whether your driving record is flawless, or if you’ve been involved in an accident (or two, or three), our Accident Avoidance for Experienced Drivers course is designed specifically for drivers with a little experience under their belt.
If you are fortunate enough to have a spotless driving record- Congratulations! If you’re a driver who has already experienced an automobile accident, don’t feel bad. You are certainly not alone. The reality is, that no matter how good or bad your driving history is, we simply don’t have the ability to control every factor when we are on the road. Emergency and less-than-ideal driving conditions can happen in the blink of an eye, even to the most seasoned drivers. Maybe you are at work and a snowstorm hits, causing you to drive home with snow-covered roads in freezing temperatures. Maybe a deer jumps out in front of you and you have seconds to respond. Maybe you hit black ice in a turn and begin to lose control of your vehicle. The possibilities of an unforeseen circumstance occurring while you are driving are endless. In this course, our highly trained instructors will help equip you with the tools, both mentally and physically, to more quickly and accurately respond when faced with one of these unforeseen situations.
This is an 8-hour course that is completed in one day. Students can expect the following:
- 1 hour of in-class instruction
- 6 hours of hands-on, in-car exercises
- 1 hour break for lunch (lunch provided)
- 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio (maximum)
Throughout the day, our group of highly- trained instructors will help instill confidence and certainty in the ways with which students respond to a variety of driving conditions, by utilizing the following tools:
- Intermediate Vehicle Control Techniques
- Serpentine Drills (balancing the vehicle using steering, brakes, and acceleration)
- Inclement Weather Vehicle Control Techniques
- Skid Control (front and rear skid)
- Proper Braking (normal and emergency conditions)
- In-Turn Braking
- Swerving
- Off-Road Recovery
- Anti-lock Brakes (ABS)
- Successful Backing
During your time in the vehicle with your assigned instructor you can expect to engage in exercises that prepare you for the following driving scenarios:
- Inclement Weather (rain, snow, ice, etc.)
- Highway Driving Emergencies
- High-Speed Driving Emergencies
- Avoiding Obstacles (deer, another car, tree, etc.)
- Tire Blow-Out
To finish out the course, there will be a final exercise where students are given the opportunity to put into practice everything they have learned throughout the day.
It is impossible to predict or control every situation that you might encounter behind the wheel. What you can control is how prepared you are to face any number of unforeseen circumstances. Help keep yourself and your passengers safer by making sure that you are prepared for what lies ahead. Don’t be another statistic.
